Mataranka

On September the 1st we left Tindal (15km south of Katherine) after spending a relaxing evening with Sue, Steve and young Kelsey. This was to be a short trip down to Mataranka Hot Springs.

We camped at the homestead barely 5 minute walk from the springs and began to relax.
This is where we had arranged to meet up with our travel companions, Mike and Jan who were due to arrive from Darwin around mid afternoon.
Called Mike to leave a voice mail for him to received upon reaching Katherine advising him of camp location, however, to our surprise, he answered the call and informed us that they were a little late leaving Darwin. (Something about re-packing the car 3 times to try to fit everything in or cleaning the unit for their impending guests). Anyway, not expecting to arrive before dark, they ask for us to book them an on-site cabin for the night, which we did.
Over a beer and meal that evening, it was decided that to get the most from this wonderful place we stayed two nights.
